The Port of Dewatto Commission met Wednesday night and asked MasonWebTV Powered by HCC to attend. The video of that meeting is now available.
Last month, the Commissioner for Port’s District 3 resigned and the Port Commission will need to appoint a replacement no later than December. Interested residents must reside in the Port of Dewatto’s District 3 (see map below) and should send a letter of interest to Executive Director, Leanna Krotzer. Letters can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or mailed to Port of Dewatto, P.O. Box 1483, Belfair, WA 98528. Applicants will be contacted to appear in person at the next port meeting (November 15th) where the commission will interview interested applicants, and may appoint one person at that time. Port of Dewatto Commissioners receive per diem for this position which is $114/meeting/day.
Action taken during the meeting included approval to close the Port’s campground November 1, 2017. The Port Commission approved this annual closure at their last meeting but people are still camping. According to members of the public, appropriate signs have not been posted and that conflicts with the message on the Port’s website.
There were also several residents in attendance who voiced concerns over the Port’s Director who was absent from the meeting due to ongoing medical issues.
