The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the Skokomish River as heavy rain is expected. The flood watch is in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning. Forecasters say 5 to 8 inches of rain over the Olympic Mountains could cause the Skokomish to flood. The River is expected to rise to near flood stage (17 feet) about 11 AM Thursday.
The latest Hydrologic Outlook from the weather service specifically mentions the Skokomish River: ” At this time it appears that only the Skokomish River in Mason County has any threat of flooding…”
Rain is expected in the low lands through the week with 1 to 2 inches expected Wednesday and Wednesday night.
