Overnight House Move to Slow SR 3 in Mason County

Night owl drivers using State Route 3 in Mason County may want to consider rescheduling or delaying trips as a house will be moved down the highway about a mile late Friday night/early Saturday morning.

The Washington State Department of Transportation has given Nickel Bros USA a permit to move the 35-foot wide, 21 foot tall house from milepost 8.5 to milepost 7.5.

This is approximately between Agate Road and Mason Lake Road. During its journey, this oversized load will occupy both lanes of Highway 3 and travel at just 5 MPH.

The State Patrol will provide traffic control and there will be pilot vehicles in front and behind the house. Traffic will NOT be able to get around the house as it makes its trip.

The DOT says the move will begin at 11:59 PM Friday, September 22, 2017 and end at 6 AM Saturday, September 23, 2017.

DOT officials are encouraging motorist who use or plan to use this stretch of Highway 3, to consider delaying or rescheduling their trips during this time. If you must go, allow plenty of extra time or use alternate routes.
