Road Construction on State Highways 9/10/17 to 9/16/17

The following is a summary of road construction and maintenance scheduled on state highways around Mason County and adjoining areas from September 10, 2017 to September 16, 2017.

CONSTRUCTION

SR 3 – Belfair Area – Widening and Safety Improvements
Highway:
 SR 3   Region: Olympic   County: Mason  Location: Milepost(s) 25.3 to 27
Description: This widening project extended the center turn lane and provided paved shoulders and sidewalks on both sides of SR 3.

Work schedule:  Drivers may encounter occasional night one-way alternating traffic.

SR 8 – Middle and East Forks Wildcat Creek – Remove Fish BarriersHighway: SR 8 Region: Olympic County: Grays Harbor Location: Milepost(s) 4.3 to 7.5
Description: Crews will remove barriers to fish by constructing bridges across the Middle and East Forks of Wildcat Creek.

Work schedule:  Westbound SR 8 is reconfigured to accommodate both directions of traffic. The SR 8 speed limit in the area is reduced to 45 mph. This reconfiguration is illustrated in this YouTube video.

The intersection of SR 8 and SR 108 in McCleary is closed to all traffic around the clock through summer 2019. During the closure, drivers headed to McCleary will be directed to the Mox Chehalis Road interchange.

MAINTENANCE

Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Thurston Location: Milepost(s) 365.8 to 367.2
Description: Crack sealing. Northbound right lane closures.
Work Schedule: 10 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12.

Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Thurston Location: Milepost(s) 363 to 366
Description: Crack sealing. Northbound right lane closures.
Work Schedule: 10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12 to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13.

Highway: SR 3 Region: Olympic County: Kitsap Location: Milepost(s) 32.5 to 33.9
Description: Utility crews will conduct vegetation management. Westbound drivers can expect a single-lane closure.
Work Schedule: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each weekday Sept. 13 through Oct. 25.
