Shelton Man Injured in Jefferson County Crash

A 53-year-old Shelton man was injured when the motorcycle he was riding collided with another motorcycle and a car in Jefferson County. According to the State Patrol, a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo four-door was northbound on U.S. Highway 101 about 10:30 AM. The car was followed by a 2002 Kawasaki VN750 motorcycle and a Honda CB 750 motorcycle. The Chevy signaled and stopped for traffic to make a left turn onto Leland Valley Road West (about five miles north of Quilcene). The Kawasaki slowed and steered to the right. The Honda struck the Kawasaki and then the car.

The rider of the Honda, Timothy G. Oakes, 53 of Shelton, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The rider of the Kawasaki, Timothy J. Spangler 54 of Tacoma, was not injured.

The driver of the Aveo, Stella R. Harpole, 29 of Quilcene, was not injured but transported by aid car to Jefferson General Hospital in Port Townsend for precautionary reasons.

The Trooper’s report indicates the cause of the crash was the Honda following too close and Oakes was reportedly cited.
