Shelton Wins Pee Wee Reese World Series Championship

The host team of the 12 and under 2017 Pee Wee Reese World Series went undefeated and took the championship Friday with a 5 to 3 win over Las Cruces, New Mexico as seen on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.

The game was close throughout and needed eight innings as each time one team scored; the other answered.
New Mexico scored their first run in the second inning. Shelton’s lead off batter in their half of the second, Kylar, hit a solo home run to tie it up. The ‘Climbers had additional runners in the inning but left them in scoring position.
Las Cruces, took back the led in the fourth scoring a run with two out.
Trailing 2 to 1, Shelton took the lead in their half of the sixth with two runs.
New Mexico rallied in the seventh to tie the game and forced the extra frame by shutting down the ‘Climbers in their half.
In the eighth, Las Cruces sent three batters to the plate but New Mexico couldn’t get by Shelton pitching. The ‘Climbers, however, had better luck offensively. After a lead off single by Matie and a walk to Kylar, Grayson a two-run double to give Shelton the championship.

Grayson earned Most Valuable Player. He went 2 for 3 at the plate with two RBI and a run scored.
Kylar was 2 for 3 with a home run and a run scored.
Spencer went 3 for 3 at the plate.
Matie was 2 for 3 and scored a run.
Moshie went 2 for 4 with a double.
