Mason County officials have updated the revenue expected from a possible property tax levy lid lift. Monday, MasonWebTV Powered by HCC reported the County is considering asking voters to approve a 37 cent per thousand increase to property taxes bringing the total millage rate to $1.77 per thousand. Based on initial assessed value, budget officials estimated an additional $2.7 Million would be generated. During Tuesday night’s Mason County Commission meeting, Director of Support Services, Frank Pinter, increased that figure to $3.4 Million.
The Mason County Commission will be briefed on the updated figures and discuss the resolution that would place the property tax levy lid lift on the November Ballot Monday morning. The Commissioners have scheduled a public hearing on the resolution to ask voters to approve a property tax levy lid lift to help offset anticipated budget reductions. That hearing is 9:30 AM Tuesday, August 1, 2017.
