Burn Ban Begins Saturday

A burn ban will be implemented Saturday morning. North Mason Regional Fire Authority Captain Jeromy Hicks, who also serves as one of the County’s Fire Marshals, made the official announcement during Tuesday’s Mason County Commission meeting.

Monday morning, Captain Hicks told the Commissioners the burn ban was likely coming but at that time he was waiting for the official word from the County’s Fire Chiefs. That approval happened Monday afternoon.

Again, a stage 1 burn ban will go into effect at 8 AM Saturday, July 15, 2017. A stage 1 burn ban prohibits any type of outdoor burning expect in approved fire pits. The burn ban will be in effect until further notice.

The Washington Department of Natural Resources and Kitsap County are also expected to implement burn bans on Saturday along with Thurston County. Grays Harbor County will implement a burn ban on Friday, July 14, 2017. While Jefferson and Clallam counties enacted a burn ban on July 1st.

Outdoor burning is NOT allowed in the City of Shelton at anytime.
