Kitsap Culvert Replacement to Detour Traffic into Mason County

A Kitsap County culvert replacement project on Panther Lake Road will detour traffic into Mason County. Kitsap County Public Works will close a portion of Panther Lake Road West to replace an existing culvert located on the north side of Panther Lake near a wetland complex. The project replaces a deteriorating metal culvert with a new 12-foot span, three-sided precast concrete culvert to improve roadway safety and enhance fish passage. The work begins Monday, July 17 and is expected to be complete by late August.

The road closes to all vehicles and pedestrians at the construction area. A detour route is established and will be posted on Bear Creek Dewatto Road. Access to private drives will remain open at all times during the construction.

The month and a half long project is being done by Mike McClung Construction Co. from Buckley Washington under an $180,000 construction contract. Crews will work during normal working hours Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
