Update on Fatal Crash on SR-108

A 33-year-old McCleary man has been identified as the passenger who died after a truck ran off Highway 108 Saturday and struck a tree. The State Patrol identified the deceased man as Harley J. Harmon.

Harmon was reported as in the front passenger seat of the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup as it traveled eastbound on SR-108 at a high rate of speed – reportedly as high as 100 MPH. At milepost 8, the truck failed to negotiate a turn near Eich Road and struck the tree about 2 PM. The crash blocked the highway for five and a half hours.

A press memo indicates drugs or alcohol were involved and speed was a contributing factor. The driver of the truck, Todd V. Jones, 25 of Salkum, who transported by aid car to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, faces charges of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.

Another passenger in the Chevy, Morgan I. Hite, 28 of Akron, Indiana, was transported to Mason General Hospital.

  1. Hello, my son was driving the truck, as you said he was transported to Harborview but they have no record of him. Sour, I went there and the manager of the Admitting office told me he was there but I could not see or talk to him. She said contact the WSP so I have left messages and messaged them everyday but they have not told me how to get to see him, what his injuries are, or how to get to talk to him. IF HE WAS IN JAIL I would be able to see him and talk to him. He is my only child and he tried calling me once on messenger but I wasn’t able to answer and that was the day of the accident. I am open for any suggestions, any information regarding his condition, please I am going crazy here with worry about him.
    Thank you,
    Tricia Butcher Gates
