Last week’s special three-day candidate filing period saw two people enter the race for Shelton School Board Director District No. 2.
Ross Gallagher and Dan Cooling both file for the two-year unexpired term the morning of June 20th. In April, Ginger Seslar, who was elected to the seat two years ago, resigned from the position. During May’s original candidate filing week, Brian Major filed for the seat but withdrew from the race on May 22nd, resulting in no one running and the need for a special filing period.Voters in the Shelton School District will decide between Gallagher and Cooling in the General Election.
That Shelton School Board position was not the only seat without candidates after the May filing week. Candidates for Fire District No. 1 Commissioner Position No. 1, Tahuya River Water District Commissioner Position No. 3 and the three commissioner positions on the Mason County Cemetery District were also sought during the special three-day candidate filing period that ran June 20th to June 22nd.
The only other person to file during those three days was Barbara Bodin who decided to run for the Fire District 1 Commissioner Position No. 1 seat. Voters in the Fire District 1 will see Bodin’s name on their November ballot.
The other seats remain without candidates.
