Suspects Sought in Shooting, Hit-And-Run North of Allyn

Law enforcement is looking for suspects in the shooting and hit-and-run of a homeless person north of Allyn Sunday.

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol responded to Highway 3 near Lake Devereaux Road about 12 PM after an altercation led to the crimes. The highway was shut down for several hours as detectives investigated.Traffic was diverted to North Bay Road and Highway 302.

Initial investigation determined the victim was walking along the road, reportedly dragging a dead raccoon. The driver of a white newer SUV confronted the victim before the victim was shot in the left leg. An older black Ford F150 with a canopy reportedly ran over the victim after the shooting. The victim was transported to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.

Investigators are looking for the drivers of the two vehicles.

The driver of the SUV, which is possibly a Jeep Cherokee, is described as an older white man wearing a white shirt and khaki shorts. He was armed with a pistol.

No description of the driver of the F150 has been released.
