Results of Railroad Avenue Study Released

Monday night, the Shelton City Commission was presented with the results of a study of Railroad Avenue from U.S. Highway 101 to Front Street in downtown Shelton. Paul Fuesel from KPG Design took a look at the corridor and came up with possible improvements that would improve the roadway’s aesthetics, make it more welcoming and pedestrian friendly.

The suggestions in Fuesel’s presentation included better signage on 101 to direct people to downtown Shelton, a six-foot sidewalk along Railroad from 101 into the City Limits, bicycle facilities possibly along the former Simpson Rail Line, expanding sidewalks in downtown especially near the Tollie, and making Evergreen Square more than just a parking lot.

The City contracted with KPG as part of the Downtown Visioning effort.
