Apparent Suicide at Shelton Marina

The Shelton Police Department is investigating what looks like a suicide at Oakland Bay Marina. According to a news release, officers responded to the parking of of the Shelton Yacht Club about 8:45 AM Thursday after MACECOM received a call of an unresponsive person in the 600 block of East Pine Street. The caller told dispatchers the person was a male who appeared to have a gun-shot wound to the head, and that a firearm was nearby.

Officers located a deceased 68-year-old Shelton man in the parking lot near the water’s edge. As reported, a firearm was recovered next to the victim. The Mason County Coroner was called to the scene, and based on initial evidence the death appears to be a suicide. However, the official cause of death will be determined by the Coroner.
