State Representatives from the 35th District, Dan Griffey and Drew MacEwen, discussed this year’s legislative session Tuesday morning. The Republicans attended a legislative breakfast put on by the Economic Development Council of Mason County and the Shelton Mason County Chamber of Commerce. The EDC’s Lynn Longan started the discussion by asking the first of three questions for Griffey and MacEwen.
Senator Tim Sheldon was not able to attend as he was presiding over the Senate since the Legislature continues with a second special session, trying to nail down a budget for the next biennium. The current biennium ends June 30th. If lawmakers fail to reach a budget agreement, state agencies (with the exception of the State Patrol, Washington State Ferries and the DOT) would shut down on July 1st. That shutdown will continue until a budget passes both the House and Senate, and is signed by Governor Inslee.
