Diver Dies in Hood Canal

A scuba diver died Sunday morning while diving in Hood Canal near Lilliwaup. Specific details on the incident not been released but emergency crews responded to the 38,400 block of North U.S. Highway 101 around 10 AM.

The Mason County Coroner has released the identity of the diver. Coroner Wes Stockwell identified the dead diver as Patrick Jack Kokos, age 70, from Yoncalla, Oregon. An autopsy will be performed on Monday.

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
