Mason County Law Enforcement ran the Special Olympics Torch around Mason County Thursday (June 1, 2017). A dozen or so runners carried the torch to various locations after an initial lighting in Belfair.

The torch then made its way from the Belfair Safeway to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office North Precinct. It was then taken to North Mason High School and Hawkins Middle School.

The torch was transported to Central Mason Fire & EMS Fire Station 5-3 where it was carried from Mason Lake to Lake Limerick then to Fire District 9’s Station 9-2.

The torch also made stops at Alderbrook Resort & Spa, the Washington Corrections Center, the Washington State Patrol Academy and at Shelton High School where the student body came out to cheer on the runners who included members of the Shelton Special Olympics Team.

From Shelton High School the torch made its way to Oakland Bay Marina via Wallace Kneeland Boulevard, Olympic Highway North, 7th Street, Railroad Avenue, 1st Street and Highway 3.

From the marina, the torch was placed on a boat and transported to Wildcat Cove/Kamilche Point where it was carried to Little Creek Casino.
