The Shelton girls’ tennis will have one representative in the State Tournament. Julia Goodale finished 6th as a singles player in the Class 3A West Central District 3 / Southwest District 4 Championships. Goodale beat Stadium’s Sam Putman 6-0, 6-1 in the first round but lost to Hudson Bay’s Avery Honaker in the second round 6-2, 6-3. In the consolation bracket, She beat Mt. Tahoma’s Vy Vu 6-0, 6-1 and Kelso’s Natalie Brown 6-2, 6-3 before losing to Mountainview’s Juwoon Kim 6-1, 6-0 in the 5th place match. Goodale will serve as an alternate in State.
The Highclimbers also had two doubles teams (Josie Beaudoin & Becca Allen; Kirsty Holbrook & Emma Johnson) compete in Districts. Both teams lost in the first round. Beaudoin & Allen won in the second round but were eliminated in the third round. Holbrook & Johnson were knocked out of the tourney in the second round.
