The Mason County Forest Festival “Goldsborough Creek Run & Walk” presented by Centennial Guild, a chapter of Mason General Hospital Foundation, will honor Kristi Armstrong, R.N., who passed away unexpectedly in 2016 year. Kristi was a charter member of Centennial Guild, which hosts the annual Festival and Run/Walk. This year’s event takes place on Saturday, June 3, and features a 7-mile Run/Walk, a 2-mile Run/Walk, and a ¼-mile Junior Jog.
Runners and walkers of all ages, competitive and beginners alike, are invited to participate in the timed, chipped event made possible by Karen Schade, Edward Jones; and McCarty & Associates “a marketing firm”. Other sponsors include: AAA Septic; Armstrong & Armstrong Christmas Trees; Gillis Auto Center; Hiawatha Evergreens; Lynch Creek Farms; Peninsula Credit Union; South Sound Radiology, PrintRogue, Don Small and Sons, Oil Distributors; and Title Sponsor, Our Community Credit Union.
Check-in time and late registration begins at 6 a.m. on the day of the event at the Shelton Post Office. The 7-mile Walk begins at 7 a.m.; the 7-mile Run and the 2-mile Run & Walk begin at 8 a.m. Shelton Valley Christian School is the starting line, and the finish line is at the Shelton Post Office. Sheryal Balding, director of the event announced, “All participants in the 2-mile and 7-mile events will be bussed from the registration area at the Post Office to the starting line at Shelton Valley ? so being on time is critical.”
Register now for an entry fee of $25, before it goes up to $30 on race day! Family, group, and team discounts are also available, and all proceeds benefit MGH&FC.
The entry fee for the Junior Jog is $15, and starts at 9:30 a.m. from the corner of 7th Street and Railroad Avenue. All participants finish at the Shelton Post Office for an awards ceremony at approximately 9:45 a.m. with the Forest Festival Paul Bunyan Parade to follow at 11 a.m. on Railroad Avenue.
Runners and walkers of all levels, and junior joggers are welcome to participate.
