Results from SHS softball; Schedule for track & soccer
The Shelton softball team finished sixth in the South Sound Conference and is taking a sixth seed into the Class 3A West Central District 3 / Southwest District 4 Tournament next week. The Highclimbers lost their two games in the SSC Tournament: falling to Timberline 15 to 1 Thursday and losing to North Thurston 13 to 3 Friday. Shelton plays one more non-league game before District. They take on Olympia at Stevens Field on Wednesday. The Highclimbers open the double elimination tourney at Sprinker Fields next Friday morning against Kelso at 10:15 AM. Their second game will be at 2 PM against either Spanaway Lake or Gig Harbor.
Shelton has an 8-and-13 record while the Hilanders are the number one team from the Greater Saint Helen’s League and are 16-and-2. Kelso’s losses were to WF West (9 to 6 on March 21st) and to Camas (6 to 1 on April 28th).
After the first day of the South Sound Conference Track and Field Championships on Thursday, six Shelton Highclimbers have qualified for the West Central District 3 / Southwest District 4 Meet: Cody Hall in the Javelin, Ne’a Moffitt in the 100-meter Hurdles, Will Johnson in the 1600 meter, Josh Dohring in the shot put, Skylar Johnson in the High Jump and Kaitlyn Paller in the Discus. The SSC Championships continue today, Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Highclimber Stadium.
The Shelton boys’ soccer team takes on Stadium tonight (Saturday, May 13th) in the Class 3A West Central District 3 / Southwest District 4 tournament. The Highclimbers and Tigers are playing for 2nd in the District and a spot in State. The game kicks off at 7 PM and is being played at Mount Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma.
