Next Week Is Candidate Filing Week

Candidate filing week runs May 15th to May 19th. Those interested in running for one of the 60 seats up for election this fall can file their Declaration of Candidacy beginning Monday morning. You can file online or in person at the Mason County Auditor’s office. Online filing is available 24 hours a day beginning at 9 AM Monday and closes at 4 PM Friday. If you wish to file in person, you can do so during regular business hours (8:30 AM and 4:30 PM) Monday through Friday.

Among the offices open this year are Mason County Clerk (1-year unexpired term), City of Shelton Commissioner of Streets and Public Improvement (4-year term), Port of Shelton Commissioner Position No. 3 (4-year term), Port of Allyn Commissioner District No. 2 (6-year term), and Port of Hoodsport Commissioner Position No. 2 (6-year term).

The Port of Dewatto and the Port of Grapeview have two seats up for election.

There are two seats up for election on the Mason County Public Hospital District 1 Commission (Position No. 2 is a 6-year term while Position No. 3 is a 4-year unexpired term).

There are two seats up for election on the Mason County Public Hospital District 2 Commission: Position No. 2 and Position No. 4 – both are 6-year terms.

There are seats up for election on every school board in Mason County with three on the Shelton School Board (Director District No. 2, Director District No. 3 & Position No 1), three on the Southside School Board (Position No. 3, No. 4 & No. 5), and three on the Grapeview School Board (Position No. 1, No. 3 & No. 5).

And every fire district commission will have elections this fall with two seats open in Fire Districts 17 and 18, and the North Mason Regional Fire Authority.
