Results from SHS in District Soccer, SSC Tourney softball, SSC Tourney track & SSC Tourney golf
The Shelton boys’ soccer team blanked Bonney Lake 5 to 0 (five-nil) Thursday to advance to the next round in the Class 3A West Central District 3 / Southwest District 4 Tournament. The Highclimbers’ Jose Flores lead the way with a hat trick (3 goals) and Cody Bragg earned the shut out. Shelton hasn’t lost in nine games and is one win away from making the State Tournament. The ‘Climbers have a 9-5-and-3 overall record. Shelton plays Stadium Saturday for 2nd place in the District. The game between the Highclimbers and the Tigers kicks off at 7 PM at Mount Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma.
The Shelton softball team lost to Timberline 15 to 1 Thursday in the South Sound Conference Tournament. The Highclimbers play North Thurston at 1 PM today (Friday, May 12th) at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey. The winner of the game will take the number five seed from the SSC into next week’s West Central District 3 / Southwest District 4 Tournament while the loser will be the number six team.
After the first day of the South Sound Conference Track & Field Championships, the Shelton boys are 6th in the team standings while the Lady Highclimbers are 8th.
Leading Shelton are Cody Hall who won the men’s javelin and Joshua Dohring who was 2nd in the men’s shot put with a personal record of 45 feet, 1 inch.
William Johnson had a personal record in the men’s 1600 meter placing 5th with a time of 4 minutes 30.84 seconds.
Ne’a Moffett hit a personal record in the women’s 100-meter hurdles taking 6th with a ime of 18.15 seconds.
Anika Davison set a season record in the women’s pole vault with a height of 7 feet, 6 inches and was 8th.
Noah Manu set a personal record in the men’s 110-meter hurdles finishing 9th with a time of 18.11 seconds.
The SSC Championships continue Saturday at Highclimber Stadium.
Two Shelton golfers have advanced from the South Sound Conference Tournament to the Class 3A Second Chance State Qualifier. Highclimbers’ Tim Nail and Jonah Perry will tee off at Gold Mountain Golf Course on Monday. Nail is the SSC #1 seed and tees off at 11:30 AM. Perry is the SSC #6 golfer and his tee time is 12:15 PM.
