The Shelton softball team was blown away by Yelm Wednesday 24 to 0 in a game broadcast on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC. The Tornados sent every batter in their line up to the plate in the first inning (scoring 5 runs) and nearly batted around twice in the second inning (scoring 11 runs). Yelm scored at least two runs in each of the next three innings to secure their 17th victory of the season. The game was called in the fifth inning due to the mercy rule.

The Highclimbers were held hit-less and only one batter, Maleah Walsh,  reached base on the only walk given up by Tornado pitcher Tayelyn Cutler. Cutler struck out 13 in five innings.

Shelton drops to 8-and-8 on the season, 4-and-7 in the South Sound Conference. The Lady-‘Climber have a non-league make up game against Olympia today, Thursday, May 4th and return to SSC play on Friday at Timberline.

At the South Sound Froshowcase, the Shelton girls’ finished 3rd and the boys were 4th.

Top placing Highclimber freshman:

Ethan Bursch won the 1600 meters.
Ne’a Moffett took the 300-meter hurdles with a personal record of 51.13 seconds.
McKenzie Salazar-Fox was 1st in the shot put with a personal record of 91 feet, 10 inches
Trinity Payment took first in the long jump and placed 3rd in the 100 meters.
Austyne Cralle won the triple jump with a personal record of 31 feet, 5 inches.
Tyler Younguist won the long jump with a personal record of 18 feet, 5.5 inches and took the triple jump with a personal record of 37 feet, 3.5 inches.
The Shelton girls’ relay team of Ne’a Moffett, Emily Adams, Austyne Cralle & Trinity Payment finished 2nd in the 4 x 100.
Raymundo Mendoza was 3rd in the 110-meter hurdles.
Noah Manu finished 3rd in the 300-meter hurdles mwith a personal record of 47.33 seconds.
The Shelton boys’ relay team of Ethan Bursch, Angel Perez, Noah Manu & Raymundo Mendoza placed 3rd in the 4 x 400.

The North Mason boys’ soccer team ended the season with a loss to Kingston 7 to 0. The Bulldogs finish with a 3-and-11 overall record. 2-and-10 in the Olympic League.

The North Mason girls’ tennis team lost to Kingston 6 to 1. The Lady Bulldogs travel to Port Angeles today, Thursday, May 4th.
