High School Sport Result from 4/28/17

The Shelton softball team beat Capital Friday 14 to 10. The Lady Highclimbers are *8-and-6 on the season, *4-and-5 in the South Sound Conference. They travel to Gig Harbor on Monday. (* record is missing one game as a score for the April 26th game has not yet been reported.)

The Shelton baseball team lost to Capital Friday 3 to 0 in the Highclimbers last home game of the season. Shelton recognized its senior players before the game.

The Cougars scored a run in the first, third and fourth innings. The Highclimbers weren’t able to get too many base runners and had two on in the seventh inning but Capital’s Aidan Short ended the threat by striking out the final two Shelton batters. Short went the distance allowing only six hits while striking out six. Max Johnson took the loss for the ‘Climbers allowing three runs on seven hit while striking out four and walking two. Shelton drops to 4-and-14 on the season, 3-and-10 in the South Sound Conference. They wrap up the regular season at Capital Monday.

The Shelton girls’ tennis team lost to Capital 4 to 1. The Lady Highclimbers have four matches in four days next week beginning Monday at North Thurston. The travel to Peninsula on Tuesday; Timberline on Wednesday, and Capital on Thursday.

The North Mason baseball team lost to Port Angeles Friday 6 to 4. The Bulldogs are now 2-and-15 on the season, 1-and-10 in the Olympic League. The boys from Belfair wrap up the season at Kingston Monday.

The North Mason softball team lost to Port Angeles 14 to 0. The Lady Bulldogs drop to 2-and-6 on the season, 1-and-5 in the Olympic League. The girls from Belfair travel to Kingston Monday.

The North Mason boys’ track and field team beat Coupeville but lost to Port Townsend Friday. The Redhawks’ score was 57, followed by the Bulldogs 55 and the Wolves 54. On the girls’ side, Coupeville topped the meet with 96 followed by PT with 40 and then NM’s 26.

Austin Williams won the 200 meters.
Michelle Swearingen topped the 400 meters.
Isabella Porter was 1st in the 300-meter hurdles and 2nd in the 100-meter hurdles.
Ryan Grogan won the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles.
Grady Durbin took the shot put.
Kyle Newton topped the pole vault.
Jacob Anderson was 2nd in the 400 meters.
Joseph Denend finished 2nd in the 800 mters.
Welcome Coffin placed 2nd in the 3200 meters.
Natalie Carstensen took 2nd in the 100 meters.
Savanna Knutson was 2nd in the 1600 meters.
James Burch finished 2nd in the 110-meter hurdles.
Jesse Moe took 2nd in the pole vault.
Seth Conner placed 3rd in the 400 meters.
Skyler Reiners was 3rd in the 200 meters.
Calista Navarro finished 3rd in the 800 meters.
Nicholas Grabicki was 3rd in the 110-meter hurdles.

The Mary M. Knight baseball team was shut out in Naselle Friday 10 to 0. The Owls host Wishkah today (Saturday, April 29, 2017).
