It took an extra inning but the Shelton baseball team lost at Central Kitsap 6 to 5 in a back and forth game. The Cougars scored two runs in the first inning. The Highclimbers responded in the second with three runs. CK took back the lead with two runs in the fourth. Shelton came back in the sixth with two more runs making it 5 to 4. Central Kitsap forced extra innings by tieing the game with a run in the bottom of the seventh and won it with a run in the eighth. The Highclimbers were led in the loss by Taylor Toney who went 2 for 4 at the plate with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored. Caleb Hitsman was 1 for 4 and batted in two runs. Shelton is now 3-and-11 on the season, 2-and-7 in the South Sound Conference. They host Peninsula Monday.
The Shelton track and field teams topped North Thurston Thursday. The Highclimber boys won 78 to 48 while the ladies edged the Rams 67 to 65.

Anika Parker took the 800 meters.
Blethany Howe was 1st in the 100-meter hurdles and 2nd in the 300-meter hurdles.
Ne’a Moffett won the 300-meter hurdles, was 2nd in the 100-meter hurdles, and took 2nd in the javelin.
Josiah Salzar-Fox finished 1st in the 400 meters.
William Johnson was 1st in the 800 meters and the 1600 meters.
Ethan Bursch won the 3200 meters.
Joshua Dohring placed 1st in the shot put and the discus.
Kaitlyn Paller took the shot put and the javelin, and was 2nd in the discus.
McKenzie Salazar-Fox won the discus and was 2nd in the shot put.

Cody Simon won the pole vault.
Jimmy Ye took the triple jump and was 3rd in the long jump.
Gage Peterson placed 2nd in the 200 meters.

Raymundo Mendoza took 2nd in the 300-meter hurdles and 3rd in the 110-meter hurdles.

The Shelton girls’ golf team lost to Central Kitsap 72 to 32. The Highclimbers particapate in the Duke Streeter Invite at Peninsula Golf Club in Port Angeles today (Friday, April 21, 2017).
The North Mason softball team lost to Kingston 9 to 6. The Lady Bulldogs are now 2-and-4 on the season, 1-and-3 in the Olympic League. The girls from Belfair host Sequim today.
The North Mason boys’ golf team beat Port Angeles 386 to 390 while the Lady Bulldogs lost 230 to 239. The golfers from Belfair take on Crosspoint Monday at Kitsap Golf & Country Club in Bremerton.
