This is a great opportunity for anyone who is thinking about running for office this year as there are 59 offices up for election. The workshop will include information about open positions, filing for office, election deadlines, candidate statements, sign regulations and requesting voter information.
Jennifer Hansen, from the Public Disclosure Commission, will explain candidate reporting requirements and answer questions.
The workshop will also include a brief overview of the election process.
Candidate filing week is May 15-19, 2017.
The seats up for election include Mason County Clerk, Shelton City Commissioner of Streets & Public Improvement, Port of Shelton Commissioner Position 3, Port of Allyn Commissioner District #2, and Port of Hoodsport Commissioner Position #2. Every school district in Mason County has at least two seats up for election. Both hospital districts have two positions. And there are seats up for election on fire district commissions and water district commissions.
