Firefighters Prepare to Graduate from Fire Training Academy

State Fire Marshal Charles M. Duffy announced that 26 firefighters will graduate from the Washington State Fire Training Academy in North Bend, Washington. Three of the firefighters are from Mason County: Lieutenant Erick McAuley from Mason County Fire District 4, and Deric Klahr and Stephanie Criess from the North Mason Regional Fire Authority. Graduation will be held on Friday, April 21st, 2017, in Snoqualmie, Washington.

On January 26, 2017, the 26 firefighter recruits began a 12-week Recruit Academy that meets National Fire Protection Association 1001 and 472 Standards for Firefighter Professional Qualifications at the Firefighter I & II, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations Levels. Graduating recruits have learned fire service principles through classroom instruction and rigorous hands-on live fire training.

Fire Marshal Duffy also announced the start of Class 2017-04 Firefighter Recruit Academy at the State Fire Training Academy.

On April 1, 2017, nineteen firefighter recruits including Bjorn K. Van Dijk from Central Mason Fire & EMS started an 11-week Recruit Academy that meets National Fire Protection Association 1001 Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications at the Firefighter I & Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations Levels. The recruits will learn fire service principles through classroom instruction and rigorous hands-on live fire training.
