The Shelton softball team came from behind to slip by Lakes 4 to 3 in a nonleague game broadcast by MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.
The Lady Lancers struck first scoring two runs in the third inning and added another in the fourth to take a 3 to 0 lead.
The Highclimbers responded scoring two runs in their half of the fourth. Natalie Albaugh then led off the sixth inning with a blast to right field that went to the fence after a bobble and she tied the game by beating out the throw home. Matti Mecham put Shelton on top by hitting a RBI triple with two outs.
Albaugh then allowed one hit in the seventh but struck out the side to end the game and pick up the win. The junior pitched seven innings, gave up three runs on eight hits and striking out 10. Albaugh went 2 for 3 at the plate with a triple and a home run, and one RBI.
The ‘Climbers improved to 5-and-3 on the season. They return to South Sound Conference play Monday at home against Gig Harbor.
The Shelton girls’ tennis team beat Yelm 4 to 1. Highclimbers with wins were singles player Jessica Schrieber, doubles teams of Kirsly Holdbrook & Emma Johnson, Kaylee Slone & Becca Alen, and Josie Beaudoin & Ally Dougie. The ‘Climbers host Capital Monday.
The North Mason baseball team picked up its first win knocking off Port Angeles 1 to 0. The Bulldogs are now 1-and-5 on the season, 1-and-3 in the Olympic League. The boys from Belfair travel to Cashmere Tuesday.
The North Mason softball team lost at Port Angeles 14 to 0. The Lady Bulldogs are 1-and-2 on the season, 0-and-2 in Olympic League play. The girls from Belfair travel to Elma Monday.
