Completed roadwork means the speed limit on a portion of State Route 3 in Belfair been restored to 35 mph. The speed limit had been reduced between Belfair Elementary School and Northeast Clifton Lane as crews built a new center turn lane and provide paved shoulders and sidewalks.
Drivers will continue to see a reduced 25 mph limit between Romance Hill Road and the northern end of the project limits. Crews over the next several months will remove the old asphalt, put in a new gravel base to rebuild the road, rebuild the intersecting roadways, and then pave with new asphalt.
As crews rebuild the highway, there may be times when roadway surface will be compressed gravel.
