Three wrestlers from Mason County are still in the hunt for trophies at Mat Classic XXIX in the Tacoma Dome. Shelton’s Quinn Lacy, North Mason’s Nico Ramirez and North Mason’s Colton Harmon all made it to the second day of the State Wrestling Tournament.
Lacy is in the semi-finals in the girls’ tournament at 170 pounds. She faces Sunnyside’s Aylin Bautista at 11:50 AM. Update 12:05 PM – Lacy lost the semi-final bout and now wrestles Jennesse Sayler from Skyview at 12:58 PM. Update 4:15 PM – Lacy beat Sayler for the second time in the tournament and is now wrestling Caylee Collins from Highline for third in the state at 7:26 PM.
- Update 8:45 PM – Lacy finishes third in the state defeating Collins with a fall at 2:54.
Ramirez is in the consolation bracket in the Class 2A Tournament and takes on Jonathan Cuevas from Toppenish at 12:10 PM in the 285 pound classification. Update 1 PM – Ramirez lost to Cuevas and now wrestles AJ Sellem from Lindbergh for seventh place at 8:22 PM.
- Updated 8:55 PM – Ramirez takes seventh in the state among Class 2A wrestlers by beating Sellem with a fall at 3:00.
In the 106 pound weight class, Harmon faces Kevin Plenh-Romero from Highline at 10 AM. Update 11:30 AM – Harmon fell to Plenh-Romero and now wrestles Olympic’s Anjelo Pangelinan for seventh place at 2:30 PM.
- Update 4:15 PM – Harmon lost to Pangelinan and finished eighth among Class 2A wrestlers at 106 pounds.
