Shelton School Bond & Levy Passing

After the initial count of ballots from Tuesday’s Election, all measures, including the Shelton School District’s $64.8 Million Construction Bond, were passing.

Shelton’s bond received 60.43% of the vote. That’s 2,532 approving the bond to reconfigure grades, renovate schools, build an addition at the high school and construct a new Mt. View Elementary School while 1,658 voted against. The measure needed 60% to pass.

The District’s three-year educational programs and operations replacement levy also passed with 64.05% approval. That’s 2,694 voting “Yes” and 1,512 voting “No”.

The Pioneer School District’s three-year educational programs, maintenance and operations replacement levy was also passing with 58.27% approval. This measure needed a simple majority. That’s 1,486 voting “Yes” and 1,064 voting “No”.

Mason County Fire District 12 voters are approving a property tax levy lid lift with 66.85 approval. That’s 161 voting in favor of increasing the Fire District’s rate per thousand of assessed value to $1.50 while 80 voted against.

In Mason County Fire District 13, 63.41% of voters are approving a property tax levy lid lift to $1.50 per thousand. That 201 voting “Yes” and 116 voting “No”.

Election officials expect to count about 500 more ballots Wednesday. Updated numbers will be released by 4 PM.

So far, 7,092 ballots have been counted and the turnout is just under 35% (34.87%).
