Joyce Horton Achieves ‘Certified Diabetes Educator’ Status

The National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) announced that Joyce Horton, R.N., N.D., dietitian at Mason General Hospital & Family of Clinics since September 2015, recently achieved Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) status by successfully completing the Certification Examination for Diabetes Educators.

Candidates must meet rigorous eligibility requirements to take the Examination. Health care professionals with this certification status possess a distinct and specialized knowledge, thereby demonstrating a higher quality of care for those with diabetes. Currently, there are more than 19,300 diabetes educators who hold NCBDE certification.

Joyce came to MGH&FC in 2015 with more than 28 years of experience in nutrition therapy in both clinical and supervisory roles.
