Goal-setting is an important part of diabetes self-management, and the best way to see positive health results is having a practical plan that involves SMART goals. “Setting Smart Goals” will be the topic of discussion at Mason General Hospital & Family of Clinics’ next Shelton Diabetes Support Group meeting on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Pershing Meeting Room of Mason General Hospital. And the topic of the next Allyn Diabetes Support Group meeting on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Port of Allyn building’s meeting room.
Guest speaker, Gretchen Rice, MSW, ACSE, will outline what SMART goals are, providing practical guidance on how to set Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound (SMART) goals that will help individuals improve their daily diabetes self-management.
Family members, friends and significant others are invited along to support their loved ones managing diabetes, and there will be an opportunity for everyone to set their own, practical SMART goals.
The Shelton Diabetes Support Group, affiliated with the American Diabetes Association, meets at MGH every third Thursday of the month from September to June. It is free and open to people with type 1 and 2 diabetes, their friends, and family.
The Allyn Diabetes Support Group, affiliated with the American Diabetes Association, meets every fourth Thursday of the month from September to June. It is free and open to people with type 1 and 2 diabetes, their friends, and family.
