Shelton Girls Fall to Bethel in District

The Shelton girls’ basketball team fell to Bethel 51 to 37 in the first round of the 2017 West Central / Southwest District 3A Girls Basketball Tournament.

The Highclimbers had an early lead but the Braves took advantage of Shelton turnovers in the second quarter to take control, holding the ‘Climbers to 8 points and building a 15-point halftime lead.

Bethel kept up the pressure in the third, holding Shelton to five points and increasing their lead to 24, cruising to victory.

The Braves were led by Tianna Brown who hit five three-pointers and finished with 20 points.

The Highclimbers’ leading scorer was Kayla Gairns with 10 points. Jasmine Girffin and Decheiya Littlesun each added 8. Katie Johnson chipped in 7. Morgan Leach hit two free throws. And Lexi Moon hit a basket.

Shelton dropped into the consolation bracket and takes on Yelm Saturday at Capital High School. Tip off is 5 PM. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will provide a live video stream of the game.
