A reminder: The Hoodsport Timberland Library will be closed beginning Tuesday, Feb. 14 for structural repairs and remodeling. The library is scheduled to re-open on Tuesday, March 14.
During the remodeling, patrons can continue to use the bookdrops to return materials. Items that are requested and would normally be sent to the library will be held until the library reopens. Instead of waiting, patrons may choose a different library pickup location.
Here are some highlights of the improvements:
• The information desk will be replaced with a modern, more efficient service desk.
• The children’s area will receive bright, new kid-sized furniture and rolling bookshelves to accommodate a variety of activities.
• Below the large picture window, a long work bar with outlets for laptops and other devices will be installed, so patrons can enjoy the spectacular view of Hood Canal.
To create the best possible area for teenagers, TRL has recruited a team of experts. About a dozen teens, all Shelton library regulars, are studying floor plans and furniture options. Youth Services Librarian Mary Halterman says they were delighted to be asked to help. “They are pouring over furniture and carpet catalogues,” Halterman said, “and sharing ideas about how to create a library space where teens will feel at home.”
All Timberland Programs are free and open to the public. The Hoodsport Timberland Library is located at 40 N. Schoolhouse Hill Road. For more information, contact the library at (360) 877-9339 or visit www.TRL.org.
