The Shelton girls’ basketball team overcame 20 turnovers and pulled away from North Thurston Monday night as the Highclimbers beat the Rams for the second time in five days 56 to 43 on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.
Shelton had a early four-point lead but saw North Thurston go on a run and go up five at the half. The game was close until about midway through the fourth quarter when the ‘Climbers started to turn up the pressure and pull away.
Jordyn Peterson led the fourth quarter charge by hitting three three-pointers in the quarter and finished with 9 points. Jasmine Griffin led Shelton with 17 points. Decheiya Littlesun also finished with 9 points.Paige Johnson scored 8 points. Timber Ware and Lexi Moon had 5 each. Kara Bogh hit two free throws. And Kayla Gairins made one of three free throws.
Quinlan Christian led the Rams with 17 points in the loss.
Shelton improved to 10-and-6 on the season, 5-and-5 in the South Sound Conference. The Highclimbers remained in fourth place in the standings, a game ahead of Yelm. They host Central Kitsap Wednesday on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.
The Shelton boys’ basketball team was held to 15 first half points while allowing North Thurston to score 42 on the way to a 66 to 37 loss. The good news for the Highclimbers in this game is they only lost the second half by 2 points.
Kyle Kimball led Shelton in the loss with 15 points. Tyler Giraldes had 13.
North Thurston go 17 points from Jeremy Spencer and 12 from Clay Christian.
Shelton dropped to 5-and-11 overall, 1-and-9 in the Conference. They travel to Central Kitsap Wednesday.
