The Shelton girls’ basketball team ended an four-game losing skid by handling Capital Friday night 58 to 27 on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.
The Highclimbers held the Cougars to single digit scoring in each quarter and were able to increase their lead to as many as 33 in the fourth.
Paige Johnson led Shelton with 12 points followed by Morgan Leach’s 11 points. Leach scored all her points in the third quarter hitting three 3-pointers. Timber Ware finished with 8 points. Jasmine Griffin added 7. Decheiya Littlesun had 6. Jordyn Peterson scored 5. Lexi Moon had 4 going four for four at the free throw line. Katie Johnson hit a 3 pointer. And Kayla Gairns finished with 2.
Leading scorer for Capital was Delani West with 7 points.
The Lady Highclimbers are now 8-and-5 on the season, 3-and-4 in the South Sound Conference. They go back on the road Wednesday and travel to North Thurston to face the Rams for the first time this season. Shelton then travels to Gig Harbor next Friday before coming back to the Mini Dome on Monday, January 23rd when they host North Thurston, followed by Central Kitsap, Peninsula and Timberline all at home and on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.

Tyler Giraldes led Shelton with 10 points. The ‘Climbers return to the Mini Dome Wednesday to face North Thurston for the first time this season. The North Mason boys’ basketball team fell to Port Angeles 80 to 62. The Bulldogs are now 5-and-8 on the season, 1-and-6 in the Olympic League. They host Coupeville Tuesday at 5:15 PM.
