The Shelton boys’ basketball team held off Peninsula Wednesday night to win their first South Sound Conference game 63 to 59 on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.
The Highclimbers led the entire game, only allowing the Seahawks to tie the game at 17 with 2:16 to go in the first half. Shelton built a 15-point lead in the third quarter only to allow Peninsula to pull within one late in the fourth before the ‘Climbers pulled away enough to pull out the win.
Shelton’s Marshall McCullough and Tyler Giraldes led the way with 15 points each. Kyle Kimball added 13. Travis Colbenson and Jha’mal Johnson (who made his first varsity start) each chipped in 6. Caleb Hitsman scored 5 points. And Jason Kenyon finished with 3.
The Highclimbers evened their overall record at 5-and-5 while improved their Conference record to 1-and-3.
Shelton continues South Sound Conference play Friday against Timberline. The game is the Mini Dome tips off at 7 PM and will be broadcast on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.
The Shelton girls’ basketball team lost their second South Sound Conference game Wednesday losing at Peninsula 47 to 43. The Lady Highclimbers are now 7-and-3 on the season, 2-and-2 in the SSC. They travel to Timberline Friday.
