Shutty officially begins his term in office on January 1, 2017.

He won the seat in November by defeating Roslynne Reed 53.72% to 46.28%. Shutty takes the seat previously held by Tim Sheldon who decided not to run for re-election after 12-years on the Mason County Commission.

Among those to attend Shutty’s swearing in were State Senator Sheldon, Mason County Commissioners Terri Jeffreys and Randy Neatherlin, Shelton Mayor Gary Cronce, Shelton City Commissioners Tracy Moore and Kathy McDowell, PUD 3 Commissioners Linda Gott and Tom Farmer, and State Representative Drew MacEwan.
