Jack Stark, retired Shelton High School teacher and successful head football coach, received the 2016 Flame Award during Mason General Hospital Foundation’s Annual Fantasy Forest Gala and Live Auction in November. Each year, MGH Foundation awards an outstanding individual from the community who demonstrates strong support of the Foundation and of MGH&FC. Co-sponsor of the award was Sierra Pacific Industries & Foundation.
Jack has been a tireless volunteer and philanthropist of MGH Foundation for many years. His greatest involvement over the past 21 years has been on the Foundation’s golf fundraising committee and serving for nearly two decades as chair on the Annual Quality Care Golf Tournament. Over the years, Jack has been a supporter of MGH&FC in many ways. At one time he was a product spokesman for MGH&FC’s Emergency Department (ED) during a Hospital bond campaign. Jack attributes the ED’s efficiency and knowledgeable staff to saving his life after he suffered a heart attack. At the time he stated, “I wouldn’t be alive today if it weren’t for our wonderful ED staff.” His wife, Judy has also been active in the Foundation over the years, and was a founding member and past president of the Sherwood Guild, a chapter of MGH Foundation.
