Former Port Commissioner Injured in Elma Crash

WSPlogoA former Port of Shelton Commissioner was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 12 west of Elma Thursday. The State Patrol reports that Thomas M. Wallitner, 81 of Shelton, driving a 1990 Chevrolet pickup, attempted to make a left turn onto eastbound SR-12 from Schouweiler Road about 11:45 AM. He pulled out in front of a westbound 2011 Mercury Milan and the car struck the truck. The Chevy came to rest in the gore point. The Mercury came to rest in the median.

Wallitner was transported to Summit Pacific Medical Center in Elma.

The three passengers in the Milan – Alice M. M. Johnstone, 22 of Taholah (driver); Marus L. Puff, 29 of Tumwater; and a one-month old baby – were also transported to Summit Pacific Medical Center.

Troopers determined the cause of this crash was Wallitner failing to yield.
