County Commissioners Looking to Balance 2017 Budget

The Mason County Commission held another budget briefing Tuesday.

During this briefing the Frank Pinter, Director of Support Services, ran down the revenues and funding expected in the County for next year. What also came out during the briefing is a shortfall of $1.38 Million.

The Commissioners asked staff to look at several concepts for balancing the 2017 budget including finding ways to generate income from selling County-owned property to a levy shift. The most likely scenario is asking all departments to cut one percent from their budget requests.

The County Commissioners will be holding additional budget workshops on Wednesday, November 16 and Thursday, November 17. Both will begin at 9 AM and are open to the public.

The Commissioners are NOT holding briefings on Monday or a regular business meeting on Tuesday.
