The enrollment deadline for health insurance through Washington Healthplanfinder is Tuesday, January 31, 2017, so if you or your family are without a health plan, there is still time to enroll. For those that need it, Mason General Hospital & Family of Clinics is offering two Saturday enrollment workshops in January. The workshops are free and open to everyone in the community, and will be held on January 21 and 28 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Ellinor Meeting Room at MGH.
Washington Healthplanfinder is part of the Affordable Care Act, which offers an online marketplace with various health plan options for individuals and families to choose from. For those who qualify, financial help is also offered, in the form of insurance premium tax credits, reduced-cost sharing, and Medicaid. Washington State law requires everyone to be covered or face a fine on their taxes for being without a medical plan, so to ensure that all our community members have health insurance, MGH&FC provides enrollment assistance Monday through Friday in addition to the two Saturday workshops.
The enrollment workshops are set up to answer any questions about Washington Healthplanfinder, as well as to assist people in getting signed up for a plan before the January 31 deadline. More information on Washington Healthplanfinder and assistance in registering is available Monday through Friday by calling MGH&FC Project Supervisor Susana Lopez at (360) 432-7766.
