The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the Skokomish River. The watch will be in effect from 8 PM this evening (Wednesday) through Thursday morning. Forecasters are saying river levels on the Olympic Peninsula will be rising today through tonight in response to rainfall. The Skokomish River will rise and cres tonight potentially as high as the 17-foot flood stage. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches in the Olympics are possible and the snow level will start off at 9000 feet. In addition, the Skokomish was already just under 16 feet when the rain began.
