The Mason County Commission is getting close to a formula for setting salaries for other elected officials. During a briefing Monday, the Commissioners discussed how best to calculate those salaries while bringing them more inline with the salaries of elected officials in comparable counties.
The concept that the Commission seems to agree upon is to use the average of the salaries from the comparable counties and tie future salary increases to the 1% increase the Commissioners currently receive annually. County staff will provide the Commission with the actual numbers and the impacts on the 2017 budget. The discussion will continue next Monday as no official action has been taken.
