The League of Women Voters of Mason County held a unique candidates’ forum Monday night. We will call it “Speed Forum”. Patterned after the speed dating concept where potential suitors move from one person to another after a certain amount of time, each candidate moved from one table to another after six minutes of questions and answers with those seated at each table. Cheryl Williams is the League’s President:
The candidates to participate in the Speed Forum were Randy Neatherlin and Kelley McIntosh who are running for Mason County Commissioner District 1; Kevin Shutty and Roslyne Reed who are running for Mason County Commissioner District 2; Dan Griffey and Irene Bowling who are running for 35th District State Representative Position 1; and Drew MacEwan and Craig Patti who are running for 35th District State Representative Position 2.
Each candidate had different conversations with each table and sometimes the table’s questions were different for different candidates in the same race.
To give you an idea of how this “Speed Forum” went, here is how the conversations went for Roslynne Reed and Kevin Shutty who are running for Mason County Commissioner District 2:
Please note, the conversation may be difficult to hear as all conversations were going on at the same time.
Most candidates said they enjoyed this unique format.
Next Tuesday (October 18th), the Shelton Mason County Chamber of Commerce is holding a candidates’ forum at Olympic Middle School in Shelton. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast the forum live beginning at 6 PM. The same candidates who participated in the League of Women Voters’ speed forum will be participating in the Chamber’s forum.
