The Shelton football team fell to Timberline Friday 33 to 14. The Highclimbers and the Blazers played to a 14-14 tie at halftime but Shelton couldn’t contain Timberline’s running attack in the second half. The Blazers’ Anthony Hathaway and Michael Barnes carried the load as Timberline rushed for nearly 400 yards.
The ‘Climbers, on the other hand, were unable to establish the run and relied on their quarterback Tyler Giraldes who threw the ball 37 times. However, Giraldes was only able to complete 10 passes and was intercepted three times.
Seven of Giraldes’ completions were to Kyle Kimball who had a big game. Kimball recovered the opening kick off to the Blazers on their 27, intercepted a pass and had an 85-yard kick off return for a touchdown.
Taylor Toney also recoved a kickoff and had an interception. And Willy Ruiz had a one-yard TD run.
Shelton drops to 2-and-3 on the season, 1-and-2 in the South Sound Conference. The Highclimbers hit the road next week to play Gig Harbor at Roy Anderson Field in Purdy. MasonWebTV powered by HCC will be on hand for the game. Kick off is at 7 PM.
