General Election Candidates Events Scheduled

election 2016 cThere are numerous opportunities in the next few weeks for voters to meet the candidates who will be on the November 8th General Election Ballot and learn where they stand on the issues.

On Tuesday, September 27th, the Hood Canal Improvement Club is holding a candidates’ forum at the Union Fire and Community Hall beginning at 6:45 PM with discussion on Proposition 1 – Establishing a Metropolitan Park District. The candidates running for Mason County Commissioner District 1 & 2 and running for 35th District State Representative Positions 1 & 2 will follow with statements and responses to prepared questions.

On Thursday, September 29th, the North Mason Chamber of Commerce, North Mason Community Voice, Hood Canal Communications and MasonWebTV.com are holding a candidates’ debate at Faith In Action’s HUB Center for Seniors in Belfair beginning at 6:30 PM. This debate will be moderated by Joel Myer and broadcast live on MasonWebTV.com, hcc.net/news and on Hood Canal Communications’ local channel.

The candidates running for 35th District State Representative Positions 1 & 2 and running for Mason County Commissioner Districts 1 & 2 will go head to head answering prepared questions. Officials will also be on hand to discuss Proposition 1 – Establishing a Metropolitan Park District in the County. Those in attendance will also be given the opportunity to ask questions directly to the candidates.

League of Women Voters MCOn Monday, October 10th, the League of Women Voters of Mason County is holding a candidates night at Mason County PUD 3’s Auditorium beginning at 7 PM. This event will have each candidate move from table to table, discussing issues directly with those at each table.

And on Tuesday, October 18th, the Shelton Mason County Chamber of Commerce, the Shelton Mason County Journal, Hood Canal Communications and MasonWebTV.com are holding the final candidates’ event at Olympic Middle School in Shelton beginning at 6 PM.  During this event, the candidates running for 35th District State Representative Positions 1 & 2 and running for Mason County Commissioner Districts 1 & 2 will debate the issues. There will also be the Chambers’ “Lightning Round” where the candidates will be given an issue and be asked to hold up a red card if they are against it or a green card if they support it. This candidates’ event will be broadcast live  broadcast live on MasonWebTV.com, hcc.net/news and on Hood Canal Communications’ local channel.
