Here are results from high school sports played on Saturday September 17, 2016 including MMK football and SHS & NM cross country:
The Mary M. Knight football team won its first game of the season Saturday in the Owls’ home opener beating Muckleshoot 56 to 20. MMK dominated the Kings building a 40-point lead at half, 48 to 8. Mary M. Knight improved to 1-and-2 on the season and hit the road next Friday when they take on Rainier Christian at Kentwood High School.
At the 39th Annual Salt Creek Invitational, Shelton girls’ cross country team finished 5th in the team results while the Highclimber boys were 7th. The North Mason boys were 10th and the Lady Bulldogs were 11th.
Out of 75 runners, the top Lady Highclimbers were Anika Parker who finished 7th and Ne’a Moffet who was 13th. The top Lady Bulldog was Savannah Knutson who was 26th.
There were 92 runners on the boys’ side and Shelton’s William Johnson finished 5th with Ethan Bursch finishing 17th. North Mason’s top runner was Dustin Johnson who was 43rd.
Next up for the Highclimbers is a meet at Gig Harbor Wednesday while the Bulldogs travel to Port Angeles to run against the Roughrider and Kingston Wednesday.
