The Associated Press released its preseason high school football rankings and three of Shelton’s opponents this season made the Class 3A poll. The Highclimbers play O’Dea on September 9th at Seattle’s Memorial Stadium and the Fighting Irish are tied for 8th in the rankings. Two weeks after that (on September 23rd) Shelton hosts Peninsula which is considered 14th. Then two weeks later (on October 7th) the ‘Climbers play 5th ranked Gig Harbor at Roy Anderson Field.

Season opens on September 2nd with the 5th Mason County Cup when North Mason plays at Highclimber Stadium (Shelton has taken three of the previous four Mason County Cups and won the last two games against the Bulldogs).
September 9th, Shelton takes on O’Dea in the 3rd Annual Memorial Football Classic at Memorial Stadium in Seattle.
The Highclimbers open play in the new South Sound Conference (SSC) September 16th at Yelm.
Shelton’s first home SSC game is September 23rd against Peninsula.
Timberline comes to Highclimber Stadium on September 30th.
The ‘Climbers go back on the road October 7th, taking on Gig Harbor at Roy Anderson Field in Purdy.
On October 14th, North Thurston comes to Shelton.
The Highclimbers head to Silverdale Stadium on October 21st to take on Central Kitsap.
Shelton wraps up South Sound Conference play at home against Capital on October 28th.
Then on November 4th, the ‘Climbers will play a league crossover game or possible head to the playoffs.

Other rankings of note from the Associated Press: Gonzaga Prep tops the Class 4A poll; Eastside Catholic is number one in the 3A poll, with Lakes #3, Lincoln tied for #6 and Bonney Lake sitting at #10; Tumwater is at the top of the Class 2A rankings, River Ridge is 9, Black Hills tie for the 10 spot and W.F. West (Chehalis) is #12; On the Class 1A poll, Hoquiam made #4, Montesano #10 and Cascade Christian #12.
